Is my money covered by a financial protection scheme?

Zenus Bank has comprehensive insurance policies via leading global insurers to keep the bank and clients’ deposits safe. We are not a member of the FDIC or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

Zenus’ choice to operate as a full-reserve bank is critical in protecting your funds. We do not invest customer deposits. This means there is little to no risk, giving you peace of mind and reassurance that your money is not going safely in place.

All client deposits are held in top-tier financial institutions including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. This has the added benefit of FDIC coverage applying to our correspondent accounts held at other institutions.

Keeping your account secure

We've added lots of technical security features to your Zenus account but you need to help keep it secure. Here are some simple security steps we recommend you take:

1. Use a strong, unique password.
(Your password must be a minimum of 12 characters long, use a combination of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters)
2. Do not share your password with anyone.
3. Do not use the same passwords you use for your social media or emails.
(You might want to consider using a password manager to manage all of your login credentials for you. They can also generate ultra-secure passwords, saving you from having to remember lots of different ones or resorting to using the same one for everything)
4. Do not share logins.
(If one or more people use your device, you should all have separate logins)
5. We use advanced compound biometrics to make sure only the original applicant has access to the account.

Safety of funds

As a full reserve digital bank, the risks that apply to our customer deposits are different from traditional FDIC insured banks.

  • We are not a lender and do not invest customer deposits.
  • We do not have physical branches and do not deal with cash deposits, transfers, or storage.
  • We do not accept or issue checks.
  • We do not operate our own ATM machines.
  • We do not provide any type of credit or overdraft facility exposing the bank to underwriting risk.
  • All client deposits are held in top tier financial institutions including the federal reserve bank of New York.
  • FDIC coverage of our counterparty banks applies to our own correspondent accounts held with them.

Our current insurance coverage takes into consideration the size of the bank and the policies will grow as needed to provide optimal coverage for the institution and our clients. We have Cybersecurity and Crime insurance policies from top tier international insurers that cover all transactions and deposits you may hold at Zenus Bank.

Your account is protected, among other things, against:

  • Data breaches
  • Errors and omissions by the bank employees
  • Theft and Fraud
  • Regulatory fines and penalties
